Organizer Mykhailo Smyshliaiev says this follows last week’s rally that was a big success. He told KLIN News, “Taking into consideration that the rally was organized in a short time. We started thinking about this around 2 p.m. on Friday. At 1 p.m. on Saturday, we had about 200 people gather for the prayer and showed their support for the Ukrainian people.”

Smyshliaiev says since then, they have established a Facebook page, Nebraska for Ukraine and have set up a Go-Fund-Me page with funds going to assist those fleeing that war torn country. We also want to ask our government for help to make the process for people now in Poland to receive refugee status faster and make the process easier. We want to assure our Nebraska government that the Ukrainians of Nebraska community will take care of any refugee coming from Ukraine with little help from the state.”
