Lincoln Police have released more details about a deadly motorcycle crash near 70th and Old Cheney Road just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
LPD Captain Todd Kocian says 19-year-old William Schnakenberg, his uncle and another person were riding their motorcycles north on south 70th Street approaching Stevens Ridge Road. Police say Schnakenberg sped up and passed the other two motorcycles, then lost control and collided with 36 year old Bryan Schnakenberg.
Kocian says the collision caused Bryan to be ejected from his motorcycle. “William also lost control of his motorcycle, left the roadway, and collided with a fence.” William was also ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bryan Schnakenberg was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. Both riders were wearing helmets and neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have played a factor in the collision.
