Nebraska On Right End of Rout at Penn State

By Kaleb Henry Feb 27, 2022 | 8:07 PM

For one night in 2022, everything went right for Nebraska men’s basketball.

The Huskers shot lights out (58.2%), put forth constant effort on the defensive end, and never stopped fighting for the full 40 minutes en route to a 93-67 win at Penn State. This is the first time under coach Fred Hoiberg that NU has reached eight wins in a season.

Nebraska (8-21, 2-16 Big Ten) blitzed the Nittany Lions (12-14, 7-11 Big Ten) early, shooting 60.6 percent in the first half and hitting seven 3s to lead 49-31 at the half.

The second half was a mere formality. The Huskers stretched the lead to as much as 32, in the end settling for the 23 points victory.

The 93 points are the most Penn State has given up all season.

Five Huskers scored in double figures, led by 25 points from Bryce McGowens.

Alonzo Verge Jr. scored 15 points to go with three assists. Lat Mayen added 13 points while Trey McGowens pitched in 12 points and four assists.

Derrick Walker was efficient with 10 points, four assists, and a team-high seven rebounds. Five of Walker’s rebounds came on the offensive end.

Five different Huskers made multiple 3s on the night.

Nebraska stays on the road Tuesday at Ohio State.
