Lincoln Firefighters faced a big challenge when they battled a fire at a home near 20th and Sumner Friday morning. LFR reported heavy smoke was visible from several blocks away as they were enroute.
Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the single story house when they arrived. LFR’s Nancy Crist says firefighters started to put the fire out while inside the house, but they experienced obstacles and difficulty moving through the house.
“There was a lot of debris in the home and the walkways were obstructed, so we were unable to really get in an make an effective stop.” All firefighters were then ordered out of the house due to the conditions and to ensure their safety. They then began a defensive attack.
One person sustained minor injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
