Lincoln Woman Killed In Head-On Crash

By Tom Stanton Feb 24, 2022 | 11:45 AM

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says a Lincoln woman was killed in a fiery, head-on crash Wednesday night on Highway 77 between Waverly and Mill roads.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Ben Houchin says 52 year old Nicki Beenblossom was driving southbound in the northbound lanes just after 9:00 p.m. when her Honda Accord crashed into a northbound Lincoln Navigator on a hill.  He says neither driver could avoid the crash.  “They hit going full blast.  There was no braking.”

Beenblossom died at the scene. Houchin says the other driver needed help getting out of  her burning vehicle.

“A citizen and a deputy assisted the female driver out of the Navigator and got her to the deputy’s cruiser where they could get her to the warmth.”   He says she was then taken to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. “She’s very lucky.  She walked away from it, had an angel on her shoulder.”

Houchin says Beenblossom was not wearing a seat belt and investigators believe she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.    An autopsy will be performed Thursday.
