More than one thousand southern Lancaster County residents lost power for a couple of hours overnight Monday during the brutally cold weather.

Norris Public Power District manager of operations Trevor Weher tells KLIN News they had a switch that failed and that opened up a circuit.  He says the cold and the wind were big factors in the power going out.  The outage area included Hickman, Roca, Martell and Sprague.

The power went out around 3:50 a.m. and was back on two hours later.
