A stolen vehicle was involved in an accident near 28th and J Street around 11:00 Saturday morning.

Lincoln Police report a Mazda Tribute was left unlocked and running at a home in the 400 block of N 26th Street around 5 a.m. on January 26th. The owner saw a man get in the vehicle and take off. The Mazda was valued at approximately $1,500.

On February 12th, a woman was driving on 48th Street when the stolen Mazda pulled out in front of her on J Street causing a collision. A man got out of the driver’s side and a woman from the front passenger seat and both took off running. Police arrived and confirmed the Mazda was the same vehicle stolen on January 26th.

Inside the Mazda, officers found an extensive amount of stolen tools, clothing, and personal items. Work is still underway to identify the owners. The total value of items found inside the Mazda is not yet known.
