Lincoln Police were called to a home in the 3700 block of North 25th on Saturday, February 5th to take a report on a stolen vehicle. The owner had started a 2009 Lexus SUV to let it warm up and returned to find it missing.
On Tuesday, February 8th at 7:30 p.m., Lincoln Police saw the stolen vehicle stop at the Kwik Shop at 33rd and Holdrege. As the driver was getting out of the vehicle, that person saw the investigators approaching so he got back inside and tried to take off. Instead, he backed up and hit the police cruiser that was behind him causing minor damage to both vehicles.
The driver, 23 year old Ian Eastman was taken into custody without further incident. Eastman was booked for theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance for possessing a small amount of methamphetamine.
