Florists Dealing With Supply Chain Issues As Valentine’s Day Approaches

By Tom Stanton Feb 3, 2022 | 10:47 AM

Order your Valentines Day bouquets early and be flexible. That’s the advice of Stacy Griffin at Petal Creations in Lincoln.  She says supply chain issues could result in you not getting the exact flowers you want for your sweetheart.

“Red roses are always the most popular.  We may have to substitute some flowers.  We may not have as many red roses as we had anticipated, so we may have to go with a different color,” Griffin says.

She tells KLIN News unlike previous years, wholesale houses don’t have any extra flowers this year for last minute orders.  Griffin says they had to put their orders in back in December and they are hoping some of their roses will begin arriving next week.   She also says vases for your bouquets are harder to get this year.

“A lot of our vendors just don’t have them to sell to us right now, so we are kind of scrambling to come up with different vases we can use to substitute.”

Griffin reminds customers that Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday so make sure you call in your order the week before.  “Monday is going to be really busy and a lot of florists won’t be able to take an order so make sure that you get that order placed sooner than later to ensure delivery so your Valentine is very happy with what you sent.”
