Lincoln Police were called to CJ’s Neighborhood Bar at 200 West P Street just before midnight on Saturday, January 29th to investigate a stabbing.
A 49 year old man had been stabbed twice in the head and neck. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect 47 year old Steven Stowers was still at the scene. He was taken into custody without incident. Police also learned the stabbing stemmed from a card game. Stowers was intoxicated at the time.
A bar knife with a three inch blade was identified by the witness as the knife that Stowers had used to stab him. The knife was kept on the countertop of the bar.
A .45 caliber pistol was found on Stowers. He does have a concealed carry permit but it is a violation of the rules to be intoxicated and carry a gun.
Stowers was booked for 2nd degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
