A new state program will help hospitals in Lincoln address the capacity issues they have faced during this COVID-19 surge. It’s called the Hospital Decompression Program.
“Which will really help us free up beds in our hospitals so that we can take care of the patients who need it,” says Leslie Bonneli, Care Transitions Director for Bryan Medical. She says Tabitha’s Seagren House near 34th and Old Cheney will accept patients that no longer need acute care and are having trouble getting placed in a skilled nursing facility.
“Things like they don’t have insurance or waiting to get them on Medicaid and they don’t need to be taking up beds in our hospitals.” The Lincoln facility will open Tuesday and 16-36 skilled nursing beds will be operated by Mission Health Communities.
The DHHS program will also be adding more beds in the near future in Omaha and Grand Island.
