A change of venue in the trial of the man accused of killing LPD Officer Mario Herrera.
Felipe Vazquez will stand trial on March 7th in the District Courtroom in Columbus. The court determined he would not get a fair trial in Lancaster County due to the publicity and media coverage of the case. A judge ordered the change of location on Monday.
Residents of Platte County will serve on the jury.
Officer Herrera was serving a warrant at 33rd and Vine on August 26th of 2020 when he was shot. He died 12 days later. Vazquez is charged with 1st degree murder.
