By Tom Stanton Jan 24, 2022 | 8:46 AM

Around 11:30 Saturday night a Nebraska State Trooper attempted a traffic stop near 9th and O streets after one of the occupants tossed a lit cigarette out the window. The vehicle fled but the trooper did not pursue out of concern for public safety.

A Lincoln Police Officer noticed the fleeing vehicle and attempted another traffic stop, but the vehicle fled into a residential neighborhood. Approximately two minutes later, the vehicle crashed near 6th and Sumner and all four occupants fled on foot.

All four were found nearby and taken into custody. Troopers discovered promethazine, marijuana, and a loaded firearm, which had been thrown from the vehicle as it fled.

24 year old Nyagoa Mading of Lincoln, 33year old Gatdet Yiel of Lincoln, 23 year old Buay Chuol of West Des Moines, Iowa, and 24 year old Diew Deng, 24, of West Des Moines, Iowa were arrested for obstructing a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

All four were booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
