Fire In Lincoln Apartment Building Displaces Two Residents

Two people were forced out of their apartment after fire broke out early Friday morning. Lincoln Fire and Rescue’s Nancy Crist says crews found smoke coming from a furnace in a six-unit apartment building near 48th and Gladstone around 2:45 a.m.

“When crews arrived they found a light haze in one of the upper level apartments,” Crist says.  “On further investigation they found that a furnace is where the smoke was coming from.”

Crist says crews then found one of the floor joists had caught fire and they quickly extinguished it.  She says the cause of the fire was a malfunctioning furnace.   No one was injured and the residents who lived in that unit were displaced.
