Lincoln Police received a report that a pickup was driving on just a rim near S 9th and Van Dorn around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. Officers located a short time later a few blocks away. The officer followed 35 year old Joel Patterson and saw several traffic violations.

The officer then turned on the lights to get the vehicle to stop. Patterson finally pulled over at S 13th and South Street. Patterson was told to get out of the pickup but resisted. After a brief struggle, Patterson was placed into handcuffs.

Officers found two open bottles of alcohol inside the pickup. Patterson showed signs of intoxication and did submit to a test. His BAC level was .107. The legal limit is .08.

Patterson was booked for operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, 1st offense DUI, possession of an open alcohol container, violating a traffic signal, and resisting arrest.
