Just over 57 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was in Lincoln to address the Methodist Student Movement Conference at the Perishing Center.
Five thousand people attended Dr. King’s “Christian Responsibility in the Racial Revolution” speech on December 30, 1964.
Dr. King is being remembered in Lincoln today and throughout the week. Residents are urged to observe the day with civic, community and service projects in his honor.
