The Nebraska State Patrol has arrested a man accused of kidnapping a woman in Indiana, handcuffing her and driving her to Nebraska. The patrol says they were alerted by Indiana authorities that the suspect and victim were believed to be traveling westbound in Nebraska.
Troopers were also told that the driver was believed to be armed with several guns. The patrol says troopers spotted the pickup near Grand Island around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday and tried to make contact with the driver, but the suspect drove through the median and began heading eastbound.
52-year-old William Brittingham, of Demotte, Indiana, was eventually arrested and booked into the Hall County jail. He’s awaiting extradition to Indiana.
The female passenger told investigators she had been handcuffed by the suspect the the drive from Indiana to Nebraska. Troopers found several guns inside the cab of the pickup. The Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force assisted in the operation.
