After a pair of tough showings, Nebraska men’s basketball left a dud Saturday afternoon.

The Huskers (6-10, 0-5 Big Ten) got off to a good start, trailing just 27-24 in the latter stages of the first half, but Rutgers (9-5, 3-1 Big Ten) tore off from there to lead 13 at the half. The second half was all Scarlet Knights as they won 93-65.

Rutgers shot a blazing 58 percent from the field, including 10-of-18 on 3s. Nebraska shot well, 49 percent form the field and and 6-of-18 from 3, but couldn’t keep up with the home team.

Bryce McGowens scored 17 points to lead the Huskers. It is the sixth straight game in double figures for the talented freshman.

Derrick Walker Jr. scored 12 points to increase his scoring average to 10 PPG on .747 shooting.

Nebraska hosts Illinois Tuesday.
