The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department has released results from the national ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign. The Sheriff’s Office conducted saturation patrol on various nights from December 17 until January 01.

Additional deputies were on duty to run traffic on an individual basis from 10:00 P.M. until 03:00 A.M. Their efforts were concentrated on the detection of alcohol impaired drivers and other alcohol related violations.

The results from the campaign shows deputies contacted 101 drivers and issued 30 official citations.  The also issued 96 warning/defect cards and made one criminal arrest.

The traffic citations included 17 for speeding, two for driving during suspension, six for registration and insurance violations, one provisional operator’s permit violation and four various traffic law violations.

One criminal arrest was made for being in possession of a controlled substance.  Overtime compensation for the additional deputies working during the crackdown was paid through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
