Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to 228 NW 22nd Street at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 4th on a report of a house fire.

Heavy fire engulfed the one-story, single family home. All the residents were outside when firefighters arrived.

Due to the flames and an unstable building, LFR used defenseĀ  and fought the blaze from outside of the home. Due to its instability, firefighters were not able to pull out the contents to make sure that combustibles were not burning. Fire crews rotated to watch the home throughout the night.

Two adults and one child lived at the home and they were relocated by the Red Cross. One dog died in the fire.

The home is a total loss and valued at $100,000.
