Lincoln Police were called to Oregon Trail and North 1st Street at 6:15 p.m. on January 1st to investigate a report of three men fighting in the street.

The 46 year old victim and his 22 year old stepson were holding down 27 year old Scott Cross. The victim told police his Chevy Silverado had been stolen and the two were out looking for it. The stepson saw the vehicle in a lot in the 3300 block of North 1st street and the person behind the wheel was driving erratically. They saw Cross get out of the vehicle and the two followed and eventually tackled Cross where officers found the men in the street.

Officers did fin the stolen pickup in a nearby lot and found footprints in the snow leading to where Cross was being held.

After being checked out by medics, Cross became combative and refused to be placed into the cruiser. Cross was eventually arrested for theft by unlawful taking, resisting arrest, and driving on a suspended license.

Police add the pickup had been left running unattended.
