Nebraska women’s basketball is undefeated no more.

After a 12-0 start to the season, including 1-0 in Big Ten play, the Huskers fell to a shorthanded Michigan State (8-6, 2-1 Big Ten) squad Thursday afternoon in East Lansing.

One of the nation’s best scoring teams, Nebraska struggled against the Spartans. NU trailed by four after the first quarter, then gave up a 14-2 run to close out the half.

The Huskers used multiple runs to cut the deficit to a single possession, including in the final seconds, but never could get over the hump, falling 72-69.

Michigan State’s entire offense ran through Nia Clouden. The guard scored 32 points, including 15 free throws. Nebraska got to the line a total of 15 times for the game.

Nebraska shot just 33 percent from the field and made only 7-of-33 shots from deep.

Sam Haiby led the Huskers with 19 points, followed by 12 for Ashley Scoggin and 11 for Alexis Markowski.

Nebraska returns home Tuesday to host No. 8 Michigan.
