Powerball and Mega Millions will end the year with big jackpots.
There have been 36 Powerball drawings since October 6th without a jackpot winner. The jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is $441 million. That amounts to $317.5 million with the cash option selected.
There have been 19 Mega Millions drawings since October 26th without a jackpot winner. The estimated jackpot for Friday’s drawing is $221 million or $159.6 million with the cash option selected.
Nebraska Lottery reports there were local Mega Millions winners in the month of November. A winning $10,000 ticket was sold on November 12th at a Pump and Pantry in Grand Island. A $30,000 ticket was sold November 16th at Russ’s Market at 4400 S 33rd Street in Lincoln. On November 30th, a $20,000 Mega Millions ticket was sold at Hy-Vee in South Sioux City.
The Nebraska Lottery encourages people to play responsibly and within their means. Spokesperson Neil Watson says, “The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million and for Mega Millions it is 1 in 302 million. It only takes one ticket to win but your odds of winning remain the same no matter how many tickets you purchase or how many people play.”
A portion of the proceeds go to good causes in the state. Over $843 million has been raised for the Nebraska Lottery’s beneficiary funds since the lottery started in 1993.
