A Lincoln man who crashed while attempting to flee a traffic stop in Lincoln early Saturday morning near death at a Lincoln hospital. On Monday morning the Nebraska State Patrol released information that 20 year old Ahmad Gregory had died of his injuries.
New details were released by Lincoln Police Monday afternoon indicating Gregory was on life-support “to give his family a chance to make difficult decisions about his remains.” LPD is now leading the investigation.
The NSP says just before 1:00 Christmas morning a trooper tried to stop a Mercedes sedan for driving with no license plates near 27th and Vine. The driver fled northbound on 27th street.
The trooper then initiated a pursuit. The vehicle fled eastbound on Fair Street before turning northbound on 32nd street. The vehicle then stopped near 32nd and Leighton, but as the trooper attempted to make contact with the driver, he accelerated and fled again. The Mercedes turned southbound onto 31st Street and struck a parked car.
The entire pursuit lasted less than two minutes. Gregory was transported to Bryan Medical Center West Campus.
