Two people escaped after fire broke out in the bedroom of a house at 1345 N. 14th Street just after 6:00 Wednesday night. Lincoln Fire and Rescue’s Nancy Crist says an unattended candle caused the fire.
“It’s the holidays and we just want to remind people that they’ve got to be diligent about making sure to blow candles out before leaving rooms or at night before going to bed.”
Crist says the fire was quickly extinguished and caused $10,000 in damage. The two residents are now staying with relatives.
