Tyler Baker with Lincoln Electric System says his crews are making preparations for potential power outages on Wednesday. Forecasters have issued a High Wind Warning and say winds could gust from 55 to 75 mph throughout the afternoon in Lincoln.

“We’re doubling up on our standby crews.  If we have an outage with the storms coming in guys can get there right away and start assessing the damage if we would have any left behind.”

Baker says tree limbs blowing into power lines is one of their biggest concerns. “We’re just kind of prepping for those areas of town that are maybe a little heavy in the trees.”  But he says there are also concerns about power poles coming down that may not be in the best of shape.

He is encouraging Lincoln residents to make sure their property is secured .  “Grills, patio furniture, trampolines and outside Christmas decorations, especially anything inflatable. Anything that could get cranked up in a high wind situation I would make sure it’s anchored or at least put in a safe location.”

In addition to the strong winds, severe thunderstorms are also possible.
