Nebraska women’s basketball is the first team in the nation to reach 10-0.
The Huskers (10-0, 2-0 Big Ten) are the only undefeated team in Division 1 with double-digit wins after beating Indiana State (3-6, 0-0 Missouri Valley) 78-50. The only other teams with 9-0 records entering Saturday were No. 1 South Carolina and No. 25 Colorado, with neither team playing.
Nebraska used a 9-0 run in the first quarter to build a lead, then dominated the second quarter 21-6 to put the game out of reach.
The Huskers shot 50 percent from the floor, including 6-of-24 on 3s. Of the 17 made baskets, 17 came off of assists.
Jaz Shelley and Alexis Markowski led the Huskers with 17 points each. Sam Haiby scored 12 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line.
Nebraska’s 28 point advantage could have been much bigger for the game. The Huskers committed 24 turnovers, a season-high.
The 10-0 start is the second-best in program history, trailing only the 30-0 start for the 2009-10 team.
The Huskers will look to stay unblemished Sunday hosting Drake (6-2, 0-0 Missouri Valley).
