The Salvation Army in Lincoln is more than halfway to this year’s Tree of Lights campaign goal. “Our goal is $625,000 and we’re at about 54 percent of goal,” says Major Mark Anderson.

He says they are a little behind on where they should be at this point.  “And yet we’re very hopeful and optimistic about the citizens of Lincoln coming together again this year to help us.”

He says Christmas Eve is the date they set to try and reach their goal,  but Anderson says if it takes a little longer they can wait. He is asking residents to consider the Salvation Army when thinking about their year end giving.

“We count on these dollars not only at Christmas time but throughout the year and a great portion of the Salvation Army budget right here in Lincoln comes through this Tree of Lights effort.

Anderson says volunteer bell ringers play a big roll in helping them reach their goal.  They still needed more volunteers to ring bells at their 34 red kettle locations.  Click here to sign up
