Spring like temperatures to begin the month of December will be keeping Lincoln golf courses busy.  Denis Vontz is the Director of Golf at Highlands Golf Course and tells KLIN News they expect to schedule hundreds of bonus rounds during the first part of the month.

“December we usually look at around 400 rounds, that’s what we are budgeted for and we may hit that in the first four days,” Vontz says.   He tells KLIN News a lot of new and old faces have been showing up to take advantage of the beautiful weather. “We’re seeing a lot of our regulars, they get out here three, four, maybe five times a week.  But we’re also seeing a lot of new players that haven’t played the public courses in awhile.”

Vontz says they are still watering the course and mowing the greens.  Normally they blow out their irrigation system by Thanksgiving.  That’s not the case this year.  “They’re not going to blow it out until the first part of next week.  I don’t think we’ve ever blown out our system in December.”

With a record high temperature possible on Thursday Vontz says they are already booked from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
