The COVID-19 Risk Dial remains in the mid-orange range for a third straight week, meaning the risk of spread in Lancaster County is high. Health Director Pat Lopez said Tuesday afternoon that hospitals continue to struggle with patient loads partially due to the virus.

“The seven day rolling average of COVID-19 patients hospitalized locally demonstrates this high daily average up to 98 patients on November 18 and 94 patients at the end of last week,” Lopez says.

The positivity rate dropped slightly to 12-point-four percent last week and case numbers dropped slightly, but that was likely due the Thanksgiving Holiday.  62-percent of those eligible are vaccinated in Lancaster County and nearly 23-percent of children ages 5 to 11 have received the vaccine.

There was another death reported on Tuesday, a man in his 40’s.  There were 16 COVID-19 related deaths in Lancaster County in November.
