The man shot last Wednesday near 19th and G has died. Officials say 27 year old German Pedraza died Sunday night. He was a suspect in an investigation by the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says around 2:45 p.m. officers with the task force observed a vehicle with a male driver and a female passenger pull into the parking lot of an apartment building. As Lincoln Police and NSP investigators approached the vehicle, Pedraza was seen reaching for a gun.
Wagner says loud, verbal commands were given for Pedraza to drop the gun. During a struggle for the gun, Wagner says the NSP investigator shot Pedraza once in the neck. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery and eventually died from his wounds.
Wagner says a loaded pistol was recovered from the vehicle. Meth, marijuana, and another drug were found inside an apartment and the vehicle. The sheriff’s office and LPD is conducting the investigation. Both agencies have specially trained officers who are on the Officer Involved Shooting Team.
The trooper has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. The 21 year old female passenger was interviewed and released.
