Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says the Lincoln – Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force was following up on a Crime Stoppers tip. The suspect was in a vehicle when they made contact with the individual. It was determined the suspect had a weapon and there was a struggle outside the vehicle.
At least one shot was fired by a Nebraska State Patrol trooper. The suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition. This happened in the driveway of an apartment building.
The trooper involved is on leave as the investigation gets underway.
Law enforcement will be at that location likely until the early morning hours.

Scanner reports show that shots were fired at a Nebraska State Patrol trooper during a traffic stop around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday.
Later reports showed one person was on the ground and CPR in progress. That person isn’t believed to be law enforcement.
One person was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
