UNL Student Organization Donates To 100th Cancer Patient

By Karla James Nov 22, 2021 | 3:53 PM

A student run and founded non-profit at UNL  donates to a 100th cancer patient. Students Together against Cancer celebrated their accomplishment on Monday. This marks $40,000 donated to cancer patients in the Lincoln area since 2012.

Students Together Against Cancer, or STAC, provides financial and emotional support to patients and allows students to develop skills in their area of interest. It also assists with other cancer-related organizations and initiatives. The $400 grant is a one time donation in the form of grocery gift cards or checks made out directly to utility companies for cancer patients receiving treatment who meet the requirements. Grant applications are available at cancer treatment centers across Lincoln and online at teamstac.org.

“Even though we are a small group hosting fund raisers to mostly college students, everything adds up. I’m very glad to be a part of this organization and proud of everything we’ve done to help our neighbors in the Lincoln community.” – Sarah Hoagland, STAC president.

Their goal is to help alleviate stress for cancer patients and their families so they can focus on the healing process.
