People’s City Mission is ready to celebrate the holiday season with their  annual Starry Nights Christmas Tree Festival. It will be held Thanksgiving week and weekend at Gateway Mall.

The festival is People’s City Mission’s largest community event and fundraiser.  Pastor Tom Barber says there will be fifteen gorgeous, elaborate designer-decorated Christmas trees sponsored by local businesses and churches.

The festival is free and Barber says it’s a thank you to Lincoln residents for all of their support through the year.  Barber says this year there will be a special behind the scenes sneak peek of their designers as they set up and decorate their trees in the commons area of Gateway Mall on Tuesday, Nov. 23rd.

Also this year will be custom, handmade Starry Nights ornaments.  Each $15 ornament will fund one night’s stay at the Mission for a person experiencing homelessness.  There will be a a Christmas Market with designer decorated wreaths, door hangers and pencil trees that can be purchased either in person or online.

Barber says the fifteen featured Christmas trees will be auctioned off in an online silent auction that is open to anyone.  There will also be a 9 foot Tree of Human Kindness, which will be full of ideas for you and your family to show human kindness this season.

The event runs November 24-28.
