LPD officers were in the area of 16th and E Street around 2:30 Monday afternoon when they heard gunshots. As officers were on the way to that location, more shots were fired.
Officers arrived to find several people holding down a man who had a gun in his hand at 13th and E Street. The officer assisted in restraining the man and was able to get possession of the handgun. The man continued to struggle but was eventually taken into custody.
A 26 year old man told police 29 year old Dadreon Mason had walked up him at 13th and E. The two argued and Mason pulled out the gun, threatened to kill him and fired the gun into the air. The victim tried to grab the gun and the two struggled to the ground. Mason is a convicted felon and prohibited from having weapons.
Mason was booked for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon and terroristic threats.
