The Lincoln Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit announces they will join the nationwide “Click it or Ticket” enforcement for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will run from Wednesday, November 24th to Sunday, November 28th.
The enforcement is citywide but will concentrate on high injury accident locations. LPD will be placing special emphasis on drivers who are not buckled up. They will also be watching for child restraint violations.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office is providing funding for the overtime hours during the campaign.
Police remind operators of vehicles that a seat belt is the single most effective thing we can do to save lives and reduce injury on Lincoln streets and roadways. Their goal is to continue enforcement and education efforts to help increase statewide safety seatbelt usage to 85%. A Pre-Wave Surveys shows Lincoln’s safety belt usage is at 74%. They ask you reduce your risk by buckling up.
