Lincoln’s July Lodging Tax Receipts All Time High

By Tom Stanton Nov 12, 2021 | 1:36 PM

The executive director of the Lincoln Convention and Visitor’s Bureau says the lodging tax receipts from this summer shows business was booming for the City’s hospitality industry.

“We’ve really been waiting for July and August numbers to come in and it was our best ever July in the history of lodging tax collections,” Jeff Maul told LNK Today.  He says Lincoln was 12 percent over the previous best, which was in July of 2016.

“We can point towards the High School Finals Rodeo, we can point towards the High School Coaches Association.  More importantly, just that pent-up demand to get out and travel and take a vacation and see some things and do some things we didn’t get to do during the pandemic,” Maul says.

Maul says August’s numbers are looking good as well thanks in large part to the Garth Brooks concert at Memorial Stadium. “Things are ticking up, things feel good, they feel normal.”
