At 2 p.m. on November 11th, LPD investigators received information that 23 year old Alejandro Alvarado was in possession of a firearm. He is a convicted felon and prohibited from having weapons. There was also an outstanding warrant for his arrest for allowing a dog to bite a person.
Investigators spotted Alvarado in the 1500 block of S Folsom Street getting out of a vehicle. Alvarado saw the officers and ran but was soon taken into custody.
Investigators searched the vehicle and found a handgun partially hidden under the driver’s seat. That weapon was .40 caliber handgun that had been modified into an automatic weapon. The gun was loaded with an extended magazine.
Alvarado was booked for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and for the outstanding warrant.
