LPS Board member Bob Rauner provided an COVID-19 update during Tuesday nights Board of Education meeting. He says the bad news is cases in the community are on the rise and so are the number of students in quarantine.
“We peaked out around 1,500 student exclusions. No we are back up in the five, six, seven hundred range,” Rauner says. “Our rates reflect the community’s rates so there is only so much we can do about that.
Rauner says he was encouraged to see more than 1,500 children ages 5-11 get vaccinated at Lincoln High last weekend and is encouraging more parents to get their children vaccinated before they head to grandma’s house for the holidays.
“One of the ways to protect your grandparents is to vaccinate the grand children,” Rauner says. He is also urging parents to be patient as they schedule those appointments. “Demand is now exceeding supply so there will be some delays, but try to make your appointment.”
