Friday has been declared a day of fasting for priests in the Catholic Diocese in Lincoln following a report last week that identified hundreds of cases of church sex abuse in Nebraska over several decades.
A spokesperson at the Chancery tells KLIN News Bishop James Conley sent an e-mail to priests proclaiming Friday as a day of fasting and abstinence in reparation for offenses Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson highlighted in a report.
The message also said priests were to offer three Masses for the healing of victims.
