Bailey Boswell

Bailey Boswell was sentenced to life in prison for her role in the 2017 murder of Lincoln resident Sydney Loofe. A three judge panel handed down the sentence in Saline County Monday morning. The sentence means Boswell avoids being the first woman in state history to be sentenced to death

Boswell, 27 was convicted for the 2017 murder and dismemberment of Loofe, a clerk at a Lincoln big-box hardware store. Prosecutors said Boswell and her boyfriend, 55-year-old Aubrey Trail planned the killing and lured Loofe on the dating app Tinder.

Loofe was strangled and her body dismembered. Body parts were later found in garbage bags spread across rural Clay County, Nebraska.

Trail was sentenced to death earlier this year.

The sentence comes as the four-year anniversary of Loofe’s brutal death approaches.   “Throughout the criminal justice process, Sydney’s family has persevered with dignity. With the criminal cases coming to a close and the anniversary of her death approaching, our thoughts are with the Loofe family during this difficult time,” says Attorney General Doug Peterson.

“We appreciate the very challenging work performed by the jury in this matter. I also want to thank all of the important law enforcement agencies that collaborated in developing the evidence necessary to result in this murder conviction and sentence,” stated Peterson.
