Several Citizens Recognized For Saving Man’s Life In Drive-Thru

By Tom Stanton Nov 5, 2021 | 3:42 PM

Lincoln Fire and Rescue held a recognition ceremony Friday afternoon for six citizens who were involved in saving a man’s life. LFR’s Nancy Crist says one year ago a young man collapsed in his car while sitting in a drive thru.

She says the quick actions and efforts of six members of our community gave him a second chance. “The person in the restaurant acknowledged that they were unresponsive. Her manager came out, checked for a pulse, didn’t have one and directed the car in front of that car to call 911.”

Crist says that person called 911 and joined another person in the drive-thru line pulled the victim out and started compressions. The restaurant manager asked someone to go to a nearby fitness facility to get an AED. Crist says two people from the facility came over and were at the patient’s side getting ready to put the patches on when LFR showed up.

Several of those citizens and the survivor were recognized at a meet and greet Friday afternoon at Fire Station 10 at 4421 N. 24th Street.
