Tree Of Lights Campaign Kicks Off Friday

By Tom Stanton Nov 4, 2021 | 2:52 PM

The Salvation Army in Lincoln will kick off the holiday season Friday evening with their Tree of Lights campaign.  It will run from 5:30 to 7:00 at Home Realty at 53rd and O.

Major Mark Anderson says in addition to lighting their tree, there will be live music from a Salvation Army band, food trucks and vendors. “Santa is even going to make an appearance so you can bring your family and just enjoy.”  Anderson says they will be following all COVID protocols to make sure it’s a safe event.

Anderson says the ceremony is also the beginning of the Red Kettle campaign.  The money the Salvation Army receives during the campaign goes to help families in need.  “The money will be used during the holiday season for Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance,” Anderson says.  “The dollars that are remaining will be used throughout the season to operate the Salvation Army.”

The fundraising goal will be announced during the kickoff ceremony.
