Governor Pete Ricketts says the attorney general will review the potentially illegal federal vaccine mandate. On Thursday the Biden administration announced plans to implement a new emergency rule for businesses with at least 100 employees to either mandate COVID-19 vaccinations or require weekly testing.
“President Biden’s draconian vaccine mandate is an abuse of federal power,” Ricketts says. “If this rule is allowed to take effect, many Nebraskans will be at risk of losing their jobs over something that should remain a personal health choice.”
Attorney General Doug Peterson will be taking the lead on Nebraska’s legal review of the potentially illegal federal vaccine mandate. “We will fight back,” Ricketts says.
The Biden administration said Thursday that companies have until Jan. 4 to ensure that their workforces are fully vaccinated. That will impact more than 80 million workers in the private sector.
