Lincoln Police got a call of 20 people fighting in the 300 block of north 27 Street around 7:00 Wednesday night. When officers arrived, everyone fled the area and they saw a 16 year old girl standing next to one of two vehicles that had been reported stolen.
Officer Erin Spilker says officers saw the teen take items out of the car and started to walk away. The officer attempted to stop the female, who ran from the officer.
The officer took her into custody a short distance later. Officers determined that she was in possession of the stolen vehicle and there was clothing in the backpack that had security devices and price tags still attached from various stores. The vehicle had been reported stolen from the 2400 block of N Street around 8:00 Halloween night.
The owner left the vehicle running while going into a business. The teenager was referred for Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and released to a parent.
