The LPS Board of Education on Tuesday night selected Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates out of Schaumburg, Illinois as the superintendent search consulting firm.  Dr. Mike Richee spoke during the firm’s presentation.

“The last five years we have done approximately 20 searches of district’s over 30,000.”   They will be tasked with finding the person the school board will eventually hire to replace Dr. Steve Joel, who is retiring at the end of the current school year.

“I want to make it very clear, we work for you.  You are the board, you hire the superintendent.  We guide you, we lead you through a process.”

The company will be paid $37,500. That cost doesn’t include advertising and travel expenses. The LPS school board interviewed two search firms during Tuesday’s meeting before making their decision. McPherson & Jacobson out of Omaha was the other finalist.
