A case of street racing near Hickman Friday night ended with one person facing charges.

Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop around 11:320 p.m. after two vehicles had been racing. Captain John Vik says the deputy  stopped was a 16 year old female. A short time later, the other suspect in the race, an 18 year old male,  returned to where the teen was stopped.

It was determined that the 18 year old was intoxicated and resisted arrest when deputies started taking him into custody. He was booked for DUI, resisting arrest, engaging in a speed contest and other charges. The 16 year old was cited for engaging in a speed contest.
