Lincoln Police have arrested a 50 year old man for a shooting that seriously injured a 47 year old woman. On Friday around 5:30 p.m., police were called to the 4600 block of Cleveland Avenue on a weapons violation.
Officers located the woman who reported she had been shot in the back by her partner, 50-year-old Aaron West. The victim was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance where she was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
West left the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators conducted interviews and processed the scene for evidence. The handgun believed to be used was located inside the residence.
Investigators learned that prior to the shooting West had threatened to shoot himself. Police say when the victim checked on West, he shot her. West was arrested for 1st Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
