Youth For Christ Launch Capital Campaign For New Facility

By Karla James Nov 1, 2021 | 1:32 PM

Lincoln’s Youth for Christ announced a capital campaign to build a new 12,600 square foot facility to accommodate growing participation in their programs.

Executive Director, Pastor Matt Schulte tells KLIN News, “We are currently in a house that maybe fits 30 kids and we are averaging 60 to 70 kids on an average basis and we need more square footage for kids to ram around in.

The new center would include a gathering area, a gym, classrooms, a kitchen and a technology lab. Schulte says they would like space to have 120 to 150 kids running around.

Schulte says their Youth Center for Campus Life centers around middle and high school students. it is a before and after school program that focuses on teens in Lincoln. They also operate a program for pregnant and parenting teens who will also use the new facility. They also offer their juvenile justice program that is for teens currently incarcerated.

Schulte says, “We need to raise a million dollars by the end of December to qualify for some matching COVID funds so that is our big push right now.” The cost of the entire project totals $2.5 million. The center is located on 10 acres of land on Pine Lake Road. They will keep the house they currently operate out of now for office and administrative space.

They hope to break ground in June of 2022 and have the new facility up and running in the summer of 2023.
