A suspicious call sent Lincoln Police to the Express Smoke Shop at 3255 Cornhusker Highway around 7 a.m. Friday, October 29th. The caller told police there was a man using a grinder on the back door lock of the business.

Officers located a grinder laying near the back door and the door handle had been removed. A 16 year old male that matched the description of the caller was found on the side of the building next to a vehicle. The caller identified the teen as the person at the back door.

Officer matched the tools found inside the vehicle with the ones that were left by the back door. That vehicle belonged to a parent of the teen.

The 16 year old was taken into custody. He was referred for attempted burglary and possession of burglar tools and then released to a parent. Damage to the door and security cameras is estimated at $2,450.
